Love for life after crying 20 litres of tears

I’ve been inspired to write something after watching ‘One Litre of Tears’.

Life is so precious that we must hold it with both hands, only then can we support its weight, and only then can we feel its warmth.

It is an important time for me right now because I have a huge year ahead, and several months before it where I can choose to live however I want to live it. And the problem has always been that I have never ‘settled’ on something. I can be afraid most of the time to make decisions because I know that I can’t go back. But I think it is okay to go forward, because then you are opening yourself to possibilities. And when you meet an obstacle, the natural reaction is that you want to go backwards again… But if you go forward, then you overcome the obstacle like jumping over a hurdle, and you can look back at it and see that you have achieved something… and even if you can’t jump over the hurdle cos the damn thing is too high and you knock it over and you fall and the whole thing tumbles down and your whole body is lying on the ground, then all you got to do is stand up, look at the fallen hurdle… and LAUGH :D… cos you’ve scraped your knee and your bleeding… yet your laughing :D… and you continue to keep running the track and knocking down the other 20 hurdles and you reach the finish line and realize the other competitors have already showered and got changed and are drinking up their success… but at least you got back up when you first fell… And now you can tell the story to your family and friends and then they can laugh with you (or at you, whatever :P) because your success is that you’ve failed but still living. And living with honesty, and living fully in the present time. Then you will not have to worry about your future. Because what you are doing now is the future 

So, get those running shoes on and go go go :P! If you trip over and fall, just get up, and do some justice for those shoes >:P

Good luck to everybody doing their exams, and I think it is time for me to start exercising :P lol

My First YouTube Video EVER

I have finally finished a short video for my methods in design/research class in my course. It details (well not TOO MUCH detail) my proposal for my final year project next year and my approach. I hope you enjoy it :)

Count down begins

I am just about to see the light (or darkness still, depends on my attitude for the remaining days of the semester) at the end of the tunnel. I have decided to record each week's updates into uni, just so my blog isn't just sitting here looking pretty (in black).

Basically I have already set my priorities out, and I am currently working on the following skills: sketching and reading. It's going good and I am starting to see some results (better sketches, and faster reading). Of course I'm practicing these whilst doing my uni work (or else I'll run out of time doing both separately - if you get what I mean). But yeah, as stated on my messenger, I am really starting to believe that practice makes perfect! The more you sketch, the more accurate you can draw out your visualizations. The more you read, the more vocab you pick up, and the faster you will become at reading.

The subjects... I would like to really like to put this ebay obsessive browsing on hold, and keep for end of semester (seriously). I really want to do well in studio because I want what I am doing to go into my portfolio (which is FINALLY starting to happen my friends ;D). So yeah, time to turn my mode to 'hardcore design' ... haha

One more note: spending and eating habits starting to gain in control :) ... eating habits a little harder... but getting there...

Reading & Writing

In the past week I've basically just been doing anything but uni work. But by miracle I had a glimpse of just how close the end of semester is coming. I am reborn again ;D With a level up of 1 point to my writing skills.

Here is a book I am currently reading. I recommend it to any of my uni friends and pals and mates and boy and girls who enjoy design. Karim Rashid - an awesome mannnn.

Other excitements for the month:
Today is also joyful jing's 21st bday so i wish her love and big hugs.
Sassy Shelvia's bday last week ;) with Charles' friend Rex 21st (Introduced to a soho, i know what it is now :D).
Then it was Akii's chocolatey bday the week before.
And Matty Matt's 21st the week before that, a young boy at heart no matter how mature or sophisticated he dresses (does he? haha).
Oh and dating back to bestie Tara's big 21st, super pretty and super wasted :)
Tomorrow's Angela's chocolatey bday (i love to feed chocolate to people at work yes I do) and this friday is good friend Jesse's bday so he will receive a well deserved house... sketch :P... (he does architecture)...
This sat is my sis' bday which will be filled with hugs no matter how much she doesn't want any ;)

And then I will be broke...

Hong Kong - ness

Last week I had two of my aunts and cousin from Hong Kong come over for the entire week. I had never.been.so.busy.in.my.life (or maybe i have).
So we took em around to all the special places in super Melbourne :D and went to Mt Buller to slide down the slopes, wo0o0 that was fun. Too bad that I was so caught up in uni work, but at least everybody has brightened up a bit ;)
Now I have super time to go back to nerd-ness ...ready.set.go! ... O-O

3 Heavy Subjects

Second week into uni... workload doubled! but determination was also doubled. For a nice magical few days I felt I could do anything, and stayed up real late doing work and having to wake up real early in the morning for more work.

Update on uni studies cos nothing much else is happening in my life:

I think I am leaning more over to the eco-sustainability side of things. I think it will be very worthwhile to really look into this area and see how to use it to produce more environmentally friendly designs. Having said that, today I was in a group discussion where we ended up with the conclusion that studying industrial design is depressing because the bottom line is that we are 'destroying in order to create'... So I started questioning why I was doing this course in the first place and how on earth can I help the environment by creating more 'stuff' to add to it... it sounds super dreary... HOWEVER... I just came up with a thought that would help me graduate without thinking that I am little miss plastic bag... I think what makes industrial design so important and interesting is that we are also given the opportunity to create products that could help better people in their lives, to help us connect with one another (the internet is god-like to me, yes yes), and even save lives... so yes, this was just something I thought I should note down because it's best to know both side of this study... anyway... time for some ebaying and youtubing (we also deserve some sort of reward after a week of hard work :D)...
